Confirm your steering side before ordering.
RHD means the steering wheel is on the right; LHD means it is on the left. Select the correct steering side, kit configuration and vehicle integration using the dropdowns above. The initial selection does not confirm suitability for your vehicle.

Choose your steering side, throttle setup and vehicle integration using the dropdowns above. Check both selections before adding to cart. Air-conditioning and purge integration are optional extras; their inclusions are explained below.

What comes with your EFI kit

Discovery 2 development: this describes the intended package. We have not yet built a Discovery 2 kit ourselves; its trigger components and any application-specific mounting or integration changes must be developed and validated for your agreed configuration before dispatch. Allow additional time as explained below.

A complete engine-management hardware package for your agreed Rover V8 configuration. The kit brings the electronics, engine hardware, sensors and prepared wiring together, including the matching mounts, connectors, adapters and fittings for the supplied components.

  • Haltech Nexus R3 & prepared engine harness: a terminated loom and ECU configuration prepared by Alan Butler.
  • Modern fuel injection: Bosch injectors, matching connectors and injector adapters.
  • Individual-coil ignition: eight ignition coils, matching connectors, ignition leads and RRC coil mounting hardware.
  • Engine timing hardware: crank trigger hardware and cam synchronisation components for the agreed engine configuration.
  • Engine monitoring: intake-air and coolant temperature sensors, oil and fuel pressure sensors, with matching connections and installation fittings.
  • Wideband monitoring: wideband oxygen-sensor hardware package.
  • Intake installation components: air-temperature sensor intake section and the relevant breather fittings and adapters.
  • Installation support: documentation, pin-outs and fitment support for your chosen Haltech specialist.

Cable throttle configuration

Includes throttle-position sensing, idle-air control and the relevant plenum fittings for the cable-throttle arrangement. Your existing compatible cable-throttle intake is retained; this configuration does not include the DBW plenum, electronic throttle or pedal package.

Drive-by-wire configuration

Includes a modified, powder-coated Rover V8 intake plenum, electronic throttle body, electronic accelerator pedal and mounting hardware, together with the required connections. The supplied plenum is prepared from a used core. Intake and pedal mounting suitability are confirmed for your vehicle before assembly. Cruise control requires suitable controls, inputs and specialist configuration.

Optional vehicle integration

Air-conditioning integration and charcoal-canister purge control add the relevant harness connections and ECU configuration. Select these separately above. They do not supply an air-conditioning system, charcoal canister, purge valve or hoses.

What your installer still needs to do: fit and check the system, complete the vehicle-side wiring and fully tune your exact engine on your local fuel. Installation labour and final tuning are additional. Fuel-system upgrades and other work outside the agreed kit configuration may also be required.

Modern Haltech EFI for your Discovery 2 Rover V8.

4.0 & 4.6 Rover V8 | Made to order with additional development time

Your Discovery deserves a conversion planned around its engine and the way you use it. We welcome Discovery 2 owners looking to replace ageing engine management with a Haltech-based Rover V8 EFI solution.

Enquire about your setup

Discovery 2 fitment status

Discovery 2 4.0 and 4.6 engines use different trigger arrangements from the Rover V8 installations we have completed. We have not yet completed or validated a Discovery 2 installation.

Available to order as a Discovery 2 EFI conversion with development required. We know this conversion can be done, but we have not yet built one ourselves. Additional development and validation are required to establish the correct crank and cam trigger setup and vehicle integration. This is not an already validated, direct-fit Discovery 2 package. Contact us before ordering to confirm your engine, installation requirements and development timeline.

The EFI package

Built around the Haltech Nexus R3, with modern injectors, individual ignition coils, crank and cam timing inputs and a terminated engine loom. Configuration is matched to your engine and installation. The Discovery 2 trigger arrangement requires additional development and validation before dispatch.

Choose the Stage 3 configuration or Stage 3 with drive-by-wire, and select the vehicle integration you need above. Cruise control with drive-by-wire requires the appropriate controls, inputs and calibration; retaining factory vehicle functions must be confirmed for your build.

Harness & ECU Preparation by Alan Butler

Alan Butler, Turbo Yoda, at Allied Performance Projects

Alan Butler, known as Turbo Yoda from Mighty Car Mods and The Skid Factory, prepares the kit’s wiring harness and ECU configuration.

That specialist preparation is paired with Regal Rover Classics’ Rover V8 development, vehicle-specific components and fitment support. It gives your installer a prepared foundation for the conversion.

The base map is for setup and initial startup. Your local Haltech specialist still needs to install, check and fully tune your exact vehicle on your local fuel.

Optional Vehicle Integration

These options add wiring, connections and ECU configuration to work with compatible equipment already fitted to your vehicle.

Air Conditioning Integration (+A$200)

Choose this if you want the Haltech ECU to work with your existing air conditioning. The ECU recognises when air conditioning is requested and can compensate for the compressor load to help maintain a steady idle.

Includes additional harness wiring, Deutsch connections and ECU configuration for compatible air conditioning request and compressor control circuits. Your existing air conditioning hardware and safety controls must be retained and checked by your installer.

Charcoal Canister Purge Control (+A$150)

The charcoal canister captures fuel vapour from your petrol tank. An electrically controlled purge valve allows that vapour to be drawn into the engine and burnt at suitable operating conditions.

Choose this to retain ECU control of a compatible existing purge valve. Includes the additional harness wiring, connection and ECU configuration. The charcoal canister, purge valve and hoses are not supplied with this option.

Vehicle integration options: Standard (no additional integration), Air conditioning integration (+A$200), Charcoal canister purge control (+A$150), or Air conditioning + purge control (+A$350).

Unsure which option you need? Email photos of your current setup before ordering. We confirm the requirements before harness assembly. Additional spare circuits for planned upgrades can be quoted separately.

Lead time: allow for development

The usual 3–10 week production estimate for our established kits does not apply as a confirmed Discovery 2 delivery window. Allow additional time for trigger development, testing and validation, alongside Haltech component availability and Alan’s harness and ECU preparation. The full timeline will be agreed for your vehicle before ordering. No fixed additional timeframe is promised.

Send us your Discovery details

Email info@regalroverclassics.com with your model year, country, left- or right-hand drive, engine capacity, modifications, current ECU and intake, transmission, and clear engine-bay photos. Tell us what you want to retain and what you want to improve.

Installation & tuning

A full tune by a Haltech specialist in your country, on your local fuel and exact engine setup, is required for any agreed conversion. We strongly recommend installation by a Haltech specialist experienced with Nexus R3 and NSP. A supplied base map would be for setup and initial startup only, not for driving. Installation labour and final tuning are additional.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy a Discovery 2 kit now?

Yes. Select your kit and integration options above. Before ordering, contact us to confirm your engine configuration, development scope and the additional time required. We have not yet completed a Discovery 2 installation ourselves.

Is the Classic / Discovery 1 kit a direct fit?

We have not validated it as a direct-fit Discovery 2 kit. Engine capacity alone does not confirm compatibility; the trigger arrangement and vehicle integration need assessment.

What will it cost and how long will it take?

The kit starts at A$14,500. Air-conditioning integration adds A$200, charcoal-canister purge control adds A$150, or both add A$350. Installation and full tuning are additional. Confirm any application-specific work and the development timeline with us before ordering; the established kits’ 3–10 week estimate is not a confirmed Discovery 2 lead time.
