Mounting screws (x4)

1) Prep the new mirror

  1. Place the mirror face-down on a clean microfibre cloth.
  2. Offer the Regal Rover mount to the back of the mirror — it self-locates on the bosses.
  3. Install the four screws and tighten evenly.

2) Remove the OEM Defender mirror

  1. Place one hand on the top of the mirror housing and the other on the bottom.
  2. Push the mirror firmly upwards toward the roof lining, then pull the bottom edge towards you to release.
  3. If it resists, the spring-loaded lug may be stuck — a light spray of lubricant (e.g. WD-40) can free it.

3) Remove the OEM base plate (retain screws)

  1. With the mirror off, remove the three screws that hold the base plate.

Factory fuse-box installation — later Defenders

Hardwire kit
Hardwire kit
  1. Find an ACC fuse that’s live only with ignition (e.g. radio/accessory).
  2. Find a constant 12V fuse that’s live with ignition off (e.g. interior/dome).
  3. Remove the factory ACC fuse, insert the piggyback harness, and place the factory fuse into the harness.
  4. Remove the factory 12V constant fuse, insert the piggyback harness, and place the factory fuse into the harness.
  5. Ground the Black wire to a factory ground point or bare metal; tighten well.
  6. Plug the hardwire kit’s USB-C into the mirror.

Early Defender: remove the fuse panel and make inline connections with fuses. Use a true ACC source and a true 12V constant. Ground to a factory point or bare metal.

Rear Camera

Routing & install

  1. Plug the rear-camera lead into the mirror’s REAR port.
  2. Run the cable along the windscreen edge, tuck into the headliner, then down a side to the rear. Leave a small service loop at hinges/tailgate.
  3. Mount the camera inside on the rear glass (top centre) or externally near the number-plate light with 3M tape.
  4. Feed the cable through the number-plate light opening if mounting externally.
  5. Optional — reverse-only mode (no ClearSight driving display): connect the camera’s red pigtail to the reverse-light positive wire; insulate the joint.

GPS Sensor

GPS sensor
GPS puck placement
  1. Stick the GPS puck on the dash top near the windscreen with a clear sky view.
  2. Ensure the black face is up.
  3. Once satellites are acquired, the GPS icon appears and speed/direction becomes available.

Final checks

  • Looms not pinched; trim refitted rattle-free.
  • Mirror angle set; screen brightness and recording settings configured.
  • Rear camera reverses correctly; footage saves to SD card.
